About the clues and audio
βOriginβ uses the booklet's language group. Some words traveled through multiple languages; the group is not a complete etymology. Definitions are simplified study explanations, not official competition definitions. Spelling bee rules vary by organizer.
Words and sentences play from short recordings, with no download. If one has no recording yet, your device voice reads it. The optional live voice needs a first download of model files, which the browser caches when storage allows. Speech uses no account or API key. For words such as learned and dogged, pronunciation can depend on meaning and should be confirmed with a grown-up.
Practice history and starred words are saved only in this browser on this device. Nothing is sent to a server.
